We have a vast knowledge of not only our trade, but everyone's around us as well, resulting in a comfortable and familiar role for us- directing and coordinating those fine details and finishes that make all the difference in high-end contemporary design and construction.
Masterful Craftsmanship
A workshop like ours is only as good as the artisans... We've carved out a comfortable workplace with all the toys- I mean tools, to do our thing and truly enjoy what we do. It's like we were made to do this. We are thriving.
Craftsmen come to Berksonfab from various backgrounds, but all share the same discipline and attention to detail. We are welders, machinists, carpenters, finishers, designers- all BUILDERS.
While we are focused here 9-5, we are also musicians, graffiti and fine artists, motorcycle enthusiasts, model makers, mechanics, photographers, homeowners... Seems everyone's outside interests always bring something new to the table.
Owner/designer Chris Berkson is a Los Angeles native recently returned from the San Francisco bay area. Chris has 13 years of experience in high-end custom architectural fabrication - including metal fabrication shops, cabinet shops and sculpture fabrication studios. Chris studied molecular biology and chemistry at UC Berkeley, and has lived and worked in Oakland, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and South Lake Tahoe before returning to Los Angeles. Chris has a very strong background in digital design and a lifelong adoration of fine arts and architecture.
Rounding out the team are a 2D/3D CAD designer, bookkeeper, CPA, insurance broker, and payroll professional- all to make sure we can focus on what we're good at- FABRICATION!
The SHOP
As the perfectionists we are, we prefer to complete every process as possible in house. This has meant a great investment in tools, machinery and finishing equipment. Typical welding, fabrication and machine shop tools are found here, but also CNC (computer numerical control) milling, turning and sheet metal tools for unparalleled accuracy and repeatability.

THE WORK
Steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper, zinc, wood, acrylic, glass... Sheet metal forming, machining, MIG/TIG and structural welding, patina, fine finishing... Ornamental metalwork, fine furniture, cabinetry and custom millwork, installation, repair and maintenance, prototyping, consultation.
Architectural Metalwork
Shop drawings, layout, fabrication, finishing, installation- repeat. Each step is just as important as the next, and we've got them all under control.
Furniture
Design and fabrication of fine furniture is a challenging proposition. We bring our wealth experience with form and finishes to the table to help you through the process.

Our Design
Whether tasked with a complete design, or just figuring out the little things, no detail goes overlooked. Successful design is always a team effort- We LISTEN to your needs, wants and budget. TRUST in our years of experience with materials, form and finishes. And TRANSFORM your space.
Our design principles draw from classic modernist hallmarks- crisp clean lines, minimal adornment with emphasis on the natural material's physical and structural properties, and an honest synthesis of form and function. The shapes, colors and textures of raw metal and wood products are celebrated rather than obscured. We favor novel mechanical connections, concealed welds and hardware, and underlying structure laid bare. If we can't find a suitable hinge, fastener, lever etc- we'll just design/build one from scratch.
